Overview

The SMSL R1 is a compact desktop DAC/amp designed for gamers and music listeners who want versatile, high-quality audio in a small footprint. Despite its palm-sized form, it packs dual headphone outputs (3.5mm and 4.4mm balanced), a microphone input, line output, and three input options: USB, Optical, and Coaxial, making it compatible with PC, PS5, and most mainstream platforms out of the box.

Four built-in EQ presets cover gaming and music scenarios, with independent treble and bass adjustment (−9dB to +9dB) for fine-tuning beyond the presets. Headphone output reaches 120mW at 32Ω, with THD+N of 0.009% and a 98dB dynamic range giving it a solid performance for a unit this size. RGB lighting adds a visual flair that fits naturally into a gaming setup, while the line-out option allows pairing with desktop amplifiers or active speakers for a more expanded system.
